Welcome to my fifth book review, today I will be summarizing the fifth and final book of the Percy Jackson series: the last olympian.
summary:
At the start of this novel, Percy and his fellow demigod Charles Beckendorf
infiltrate Kronos’s ship. is the Titan
god of time, and he is leading the fight against the Olympians. Kronos has
taken over Lukes body who has bathed in the River Styx to become invulnerable. Although
Percy and Charles succeed in blowing up the ship, Charles dies before he
escapes.
Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood, the Oracle of Delphi reveals the Great
Prophecy: the hero will make a choice to ensure the ultimate success or
destruction of Olympus, a choice which will ensure the hero's demise.
Once deciding to accept the Prophecy, Percy goes on a journey with Nico
to learn more about Luke’s past to better be able to defeat him. They visit Luke’s
mother, who has lost touch with reality.
Percy and Nico head to Central Park, which offers a passage to the
Underworld. Once in the underworld, Percy bathes in the River Styx, rendering
him invulnerability excluding a spot on his lower back.
Next, Percy meets his fellow demigods at the Empire State Building.
Their objective is to keep the Titans away from Mount Olympus. To make that
happen he blocks off all entrances to Manhattan.
Everyone fights multiple battles against a variety of monsters. They keep
Kronos’s army away, but that won’t last long. During the battle, Rachel arrives
to tell Percy that he is not the hero in the Prophecy.
Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Thalia go to Mount Olympus last-minute in an effort to defend it. The city is falling apart and Kronos has entered the
throne room. While Percy fights him, Annabeth speaks to Luke, whose spirit is
still in Kronos. Annabeth and Luke grew up together, and she is probably the
only one able to get him to turn against Kronos. Luke then uses his own sword
to kill Kronos and himself. In this way, Luke fulfills the Prophecy.
Everyone returns to Camp Half-Blood to help the wounded and give a
funeral for the dead. Rachel becomes the new Oracle of Delphi. Percy confesses
his feelings to Annabeth, and they became a couple.
opinion:
The last olympian has a total of 381 pages and 23 chapters. This book is hands down my favorite book of the series, there's the most action and you get to see the gods at the end. my favorite part of the book is the battle at the end, obviously, but I like the part of the battle when luke kills Kronos inside of him. I don't like how Percy when in the River Styx, I also didn't like it when Charles Beckendorf died, it was really sad.
